This is the easiest and cleanest client for making a transition to Jabber-only IM usage. Despite not supporting contacts in more than one group (which is supported in some other clients), JAJC offers PGP integration, tabbed chats, searchable message history, Unicode support, MSN smiley support, encrypted message storage and as the website says, 'and much more :)'. It takes full advantage of the the Jabber protocol, allowing multiple instances to be run, with each one having the ability to perform various functions on the others (such as fetching unread messages and remote disconnection). In addition, the base program is bundled with quite a few useful plugins, such as a file transfer plugin. By running JAJC on two machines, you can quickly move files without a proxy or the overhead of NetBIOS. The community forums are friendly and multilingual and the home of an active plugin community.
